Based in Dubai

Service: Delay

I began my construction career as ‘productivity controller’ for a UK Main Contractor. I learnt the building processes and was gradually introduced to programming (firstly by-hand and then computer aided). My UK projects experience progressed from simple buildings (albeit on complex reclaimed industrial sites) through major civil engineering works (roads, bridges and the UK’s first PWR nuclear power station).

I moved internationally as a construction planner to broaden my experience of projects (O&G, palaces, private island developments, high-rise) and construction practices (to better understand how and why similar projects are planned differently). This took me from site based/project planning to head office/tender planning and project controls support roles within contracting organisations, across the Middle East, Caribbean, Northern Europe and the Americas.

Ultimately, I transitioned to consulting where I began to prepare and review claims (or counterclaims) on behalf of contractors, subcontractor or project owners. Since 2009 I have been based in Dubai (UAE), where I have mostly assisted party appointed delay experts and clients and counsel with international arbitrations. I continue to assist clients with claims and third-party determinations. I have been recommended by counsel as a potential delay expert candidate (party and tribunal appointed roles).

Major construction project experience: Critical national infrastructure – roads, bridges, dams, O&G pipelines (national and trans-national), power stations, airports (new build, upgrades and expansion). Buildings – high-rise developments (offices, residential, hotels, mixed-use), luxury villas for VVIPs, retail outlets, conference and exhibition centres, corporate headquarters, stadiums, schools, housing estates, museums, resorts, government buildings. Oil & Gas, petrochemical and process – oil extraction facilities, refineries, LNG tanks and process trains, pipelines. Power – CCGT and nuclear plants. Process and Industrial – cement production plant, petrochemical support facilities.

Conversant with time-related aspects of project estimation, procurement, contract formation, change management, interim and final account, claims and expert work. I have worked extensively with FIDIC forms. Plus, have some experience with AAA forms from Caribbean based projects.
