The commercial management skillset and function is not yet widely understood in Australasia, and there are significant skill gaps which prevent personnel from operating successfully in this space. The industry call to achieve net zero targets by 2050 is an essential component for commercial management professionals. We continue to see macro-economic and geopolitical issues impact the ability of contractors to deliver major construction projects across the region. With these factors in mind, the RICS will deliver its third conference focusing on the commercial management of construction in May 2024.
This conference will bring together a diverse range of expert panellists and attendees joining from across Australia and New Zealand to share their expertise and experiences. We look forward to participating in discussions that dive into the issues impacting commercial teams across the region as they strive to deliver successful construction project outcomes.

Mr. Ciaran O Sullivan is a senior commercial professional with extensive experience working within Western Australia’s natural resources sector, namely iron ore and lithium, which includes pre- and post-contract experience on major projects from bulk earthworks, structural mechanical and piping to non-process infrastructure buildings and facilities. His experience covers quantification / assessment and negotiation of claims post award in addition to specialising in quantum assessment for preparation of expert reports.
