Manufacturing / Heavy Industry

Globally, CCi experts are currently involved on every type of major construction project in this sector.

From bottling plants to paper making plants, from car plants to shipyards, and many more specialised developments. CCi experts have first-hand of working on projects of all kinds.

Sector Background

Our hard-earned understanding of manufacturing plants, pharmaceutical plants and major warehouses, serves us well. We have experience of the problems faced in heavy engineering as well as the controls and M&E required to maintain positive air pressure in clean rooms.

How CCi Can Help

Our experienced technical experts will identify the causes of the largest or most complex problem, and our delay and quantum experts will analyse the impact of any delays, disruptions or changes. All lost time, accompanying costs, disruption and prolongations will be identified, evidenced and valued.

Our Expertise in this Sector

CCi personnel are widely experienced in modern construction methods, including fast-tracking, and are familiar with the most complex contract arrangements. They work with current materials and plant as well as having a wealth of historic labour data and norms.

Scope of Work

CCi will be available to advise on the technical and project control clauses that will assist lawyers in drafting contracts that properly manage change and diminish risk on these time sensitive projects. CCi experts can also oversee the project controls during the work.

CCi Experts Have Testified Often in Major Cases

CCi employ experts who have testified in the courts and in international construction arbitrations across the globe. Experts who have experienced cross examination and joint expert testimony in manufacturing and heavy industrial disputes.

Sector Specific Understanding Of Issues and Solutions

With contracts from the NEC to JCT & FIDIC to MF/1, CCI experts have handled most forms of contract in common use and many which are rarely used or confined to other geographic areas. Our experts analyse and opine on technical matters, delay issues and quantum evaluations daily.

Finding the best expert in relation to Manufacturing and Heavy Industry is finding an expert who has genuine experience of working on a complex construction project. CCi are proud to employ experts who have a broad cross section of experience.

Manufacturing / Heavy Industry Projects

CCi have worked on Manufacturing / Heavy Industry projects worldwide, here are some examples:

Manufacturing / Heavy Industry

Following a large explosion and subsequent fire at a chemical manufacturing plant CCi was appointed by insurers to assess the duration of repairs required to restore the plant to its pre-loss production capacity. CCi’s analysis identified a number of additional construction activities in the rebuild timeline that were not required to repair the property to the condition it was in prior to the loss and amounted to an improved design of the plant.

Process Plant (acetic acid, CO & VAM)

Location: Saudi Arabia

Expert advisor – visiting the site in 2009/2010 and reviewing the Primavera critical path schedules to assess their reliability. Advising the on-site planning department on project controls techniques. Successfully assisted the MEIP sub-contractor to negotiate acceleration payments in 2010.  5,000 workers on site.

Steel Plant

Location: USA

The exhaust pipe from the top of a steel furnace collapsed through the roof and required repair before the furnace could return to production. During the demolition of the damaged structure, the crane removing debris overturned and caused additional damage and delay. CCi was appointed by Insurer’s to analyse the repair timeline and determine whether the second event had caused an increase to the interruption period of the furnace. CCi established the date the repairs should have completed if the second event had not occurred, and the additional delay caused by repairing damage from the second event.
