International Women’s Day at CCi

What IWD means to some of our female colleagues.

International Women’s Day is a time when we take a moment to amplify and reinforce our commitment to helping to build a more inclusive world. Additionally, it affords the opportunity to celebrate and applaud the work and achievements of women at CCi.

Below is a snapshot of some of the CCi team who share their thoughts on what IWD means to them.

Amanda Hubbarde
Associate Director | UK

‘I have seen many changes in the Insurance market over the last 32 years, the most positive being the number of women now working in the industry and the progression those women have made. There is still a long way to go but today is a great day to celebrate those achievements.’

Blanca Abellán
Associate Director | UK, Europe & Latin America

"Today is an opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of so many women who help to achieve a better gender equality and empower other women. It is a day to celebrate the important role of women in my life who encourage, inspire me and support me. Today is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges and discrimination that so many women face every day around the world. We have a long way to go and I am determined to contribute to the change."

Trudie Moeller
Regional Director | Asia Pacific

"My first mentor said to me playfully and exasperated in equal measure “You know what your problem is? Confidence.” And it’s stuck with me. Fast forward 20 years and I was recently told “You need to back yourself more.” Perhaps I might achieve confidence in its traditional meaning one day, but what I am sure I have is grit and courage. It’s quiet, but it’s there, and as Dr Seuss says “Courage doesn’t always roar”. The #choosetochallenge campaign for me is about courage. It doesn’t necessarily matter how loud you say or do it, it matters that we are all able to say or do it, because some people do not have a choice".

Jacky Green
Project Monitoring Manager | UK

“As a proud working Mum, today provides the perfect opportunity and platform to stop for a moment and applaud the remarkable, caring, bold and inspiring women who, over the years, took the time to make me feel valued, supported and empowered; both inside and outside of the workplace. I hope that if we continue to support and encourage all women, future generations will be able to maximise and fulfil their potential - whatever journey they embark on!”

Aime Harrison
Managing Director Technical Services | UK

“International Women’s Day is an occasion to reflect on the advancement of gender equality over the past year. I believe everyone thrives in environments that cultivate diverse perspectives. We can all shape our professional community to be inclusive for women.”

“I know many inspirational strong women and have learnt to never judge others unless you have walked in their shoes.  We are strongest when we are supportive and appreciative of each other, solution focused and do not doubt ourselves. ”

Kirsty Nation

“I once wished to be a civil engineer and my ex superior brought me into the field of construction disputes. It’s a whole new experience which gives me an opportunity to move into the expert world. Each dispute comes with different challenges and it’s an wide eye opening experience for me. Now here I am, specialising in a quantum disputes. I should say that I am still progressing and learning to be better. Zhangzi’s quote: “Your life has a limit, but knowledge has none.“
