Mr. Akif Affan is an experienced professional with a strong background in contractual and claims matters established from working on major international civil engineering works, infrastructure works, mixed developments, and the oil, gas, and energy sector across Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Middle East. He has expertise in construction dispute avoidance and resolution. He advises parties at all levels on contractual and commercial matters and provides independent opinions and position papers on contentious and non-contentious issues.
His expert witness work includes the preparation of expert reports and independent opinions in matters of quantum for litigation, arbitration, and adjudication. He has testified as an expert on quantum matters within Malaysia. During his career, he has personally mediated parties in marine works dispute for out-of-court settlement. He holds a first-class degree of Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, and a Professional Diploma in International Arbitration. Professionally, he is a practicing member and an accredited expert from The Academy of Experts, UK. Other affiliations include BQSM, RISM, MIArb and AIADR.
