Expert Highlights

  • Produced expert and advisory quantum reports for instructing solicitors, contractors, insurance providers and owners.
  • Provided quantum opinion pertaining to contractual entitlement, valuation, methodology, variations, interest, loss of profit, disruption, and prolongation.
  • Extensive experience of mega-project, multi claim disputes in the UK and internationally across numerous construction sectors.

  • Worked on-site assisting clients in the identification and collation of contemporaneous documentation to prepare and defend claims on distressed projects.
  • Delivered internal and external seminars on contractual claims procedures, reporting requirements, quantum claim methodologies and industry best practice.

David is a chartered quantity surveyor who commenced his career within a quantity surveying and project management consultancy. In this role he gained experience of pre-construction, construction, and life cycle costing processes. David was responsible producing feasibility cost studies, issuing and reviewing tender documentation and valuing construction works, variations, claims and final accounts.

Since 2012 David has worked within the expert witness and dispute resolution arena providing quantum services to clients and client legal teams. Commissions have included the assessment of numerous quantum heads of claim and required a legal and technical understanding of matters. To complement his quantity surveying academic and professional qualification, David gained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Construction and Arbitration/Adjudication.

David has produced expert and advisory quantum reports on mega-project (US$5bn+), multi-claim disputes on projects located in the UK, Europe, South America, Africa, Middle East and Australasia. David has experience within numerous construction sectors, these include building, mining, infrastructure, energy, solar power, and onshore and offshore wind.

In addition to the provision of quantum expert services within formal dispute proceedings, David has provided claim management services. He has produced claim preparation and rebuttal documents for clients and advised on claim methodology and information required. David has also provided project review and dispute avoidance services. In this capacity David has worked on-site for extended periods of time within the UK, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Dubai, and Abu-Dhabi.
